Martin Alwin

Senior Analyst

Prior to joining PL Capital in March of 2018, Mr. Alwin was a Vice President in Piper Jaffray’s Financial Services Investment Banking Group. At Piper, Mr. Alwin focused on mergers & acquisitions, capital raising, balance sheet management, and other advisory services for the banking sector. 

Prior to Piper, Mr. Alwin was a Vice President at River Branch Capital LLC, a financial services focused merchant bank, until its acquisition by Piper in 2015.

Mr. Alwin is currently a member of the Board of Directors of:

  • Finward Bancorp, a publicly traded $2.0 billion in assets bank holding company headquartered in Munster, Indiana.  He serves on the Audit, Compensation, and Risk Management & Compliance Committees.

Mr. Alwin was formerly a member of the Board of Directors of:

  • Community West Bancshares, a publicly traded $1.0 billion in assets bank holding company headquartered in Goleta, California, until its merger with Central Valley Community Bancorp.  He served on the Asset-Liability Committee. 


Mr. Alwin began his career at Howe Barnes Hoefer & Arnett, which was later acquired by Raymond James, holding positions as an analyst on the equity sales & trading desk and an analyst in the financial services investment banking group.

Mr. Alwin received a BA in Economics from Lawrence University in 2007 and an MBA from the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business in 2015.
